Chinese Valentine's Day

Today is Chinese Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's Day to mommy and baby Ryder. The weather here in Taipei is really burning up. We are right smack in the middle of summer and the days are almost unbearably humid. Ryder though, is lucky to be in a artificially controlled environment 24 hours a day. His surroundings are quite nice cuz mommy is in a post natal maternity center.
Some of you might be curious as to what a post natal maternity center is. Well it's pretty popular here in Taiwan and it's basically a 5 star hotel that a mother stays in after birth for 1 month. There is 24 hour nursing care for the baby and the mother. The Taiwanese strongly believe that the 30 day recovery period following childbirth is essential to the future health of the mother. They believe childbirth is a big shock to the female system and she must fully recover before she is to go back out into the world. The most traditional of beliefs is to not venture outside at all, not wash your hair, and basically do nothing physical. It's a rest and relaxation period where the mother should only worry about nursing the baby and eating healthy. She is not to wash clothes, clean, or do any daily chores. In addition they eat 5 meals a day consisting of bland but healthy soups and internal organs!!!
It is quite interesting concept and it seems like there is absolute no harm in it. Thus we are here for 30 days.

This is what our room looks like and the view out the windows during the day and at nite.

In one of the pics you will see a tall pointy building in the background. That's Taipei 101, the tallest building in the world.
This other pic is just Ryder giving us his daily smug look.
